Paper Topics on Native American Mythology
Paper Topics on Native American MythologyNative American Mythology is a huge subject for a teacher, and paper topics on Native American Mythology need to be much more than an essay. It must be a presentation of the 'facts' as presented by the author or the writer. The best writers write from their own experiences and emotions. They can come up with interesting stories that people will want to know more about. With research behind their characters and their knowledge of American Indian Culture, they can write an engaging story about the fascinating facts and legends behind Native American history. The biggest challenge for a student when writing papers on Native American myth is to understand what their characters are really feeling. If they make an effort to do this, then they will have success with creating an engaging paper topic. If they choose the wrong way to write about these feelings, then their paper will fall flat, and most likely become an extremely boring experience. When I w as in college, I wrote about some of the myths that have been around for thousands of years, and tribal designations. My research led me to a story of how the first inhabitants of the area of North America were removed from their land by the 'Indian Removal Act'. This story has a lot of interesting facts about the history of the American Indians. The question then was, 'How did the Native Americans react to these developments? Now, my writing is very different from the scientific approach of many college writing students. But, in order to engage my students, I need to create a narrative that is entertaining. My experience as a teacher has taught me that the most exciting way to write a paper about Native American mythology is through story. A story about the 'big picture' in the world, so that students will have fun while learning. Not only should students do their research before creating paper topics, but they should also practice writing in this form. Writing in a narrative is much easier than writing in the 'body' style, because they don't need to think about what they are saying.Because I am always on the lookout for interesting topics for students to write about, I recommend my students to look for an event that 'makes sense' to the story line. For example, a Native American Celebration, or a big victory for the tribe. Try to find stories that will help students think about our past as well as the story lines of our future.
